Rosa Bridge is a lovely 5-bedroom house with a large garden in the Tarner/Hanover area of Brighton, close to Queen's Park. Cosy for five people, with a good-sized communal lounge and kitchen.

A first-floor bedroom that fits a double bed. The room is unfurnished.

• Up a steep hill, 5 mins uphill to the nearest corner shop, 10–15 mins to buses and main shops.
• 1 step at the gate, 3 shallow steps into the house and front door is 73cm wide.
• The advertised bedroom is on the first floor and all communal areas are on the ground floor, with no internal steps.
• Structural changes we can make are limited, but grab rails and similar adaptations are welcome to discuss.

We are a queer, intersectional feminist LGBTQIA+ housing co-operative providing affordable housing to those who face barriers to secure housing in Brighton. We are all part of the queer community, and we share our home with a beautiful 12-year-old cat.

No previous co-op experience is needed, but genuine interest in how co-ops work and the capacity to contribute are important to us. As a small co-op of five, we are looking for members who take initiative.

• Monthly co-op meeting, approximately 1 hour on a weeknight.
• Monthly house work day, where we do repairs, DIY, accounts and care of the home.
• Contributing to the ongoing management and maintenance of the co-op (this includes bookkeeping and accounts).
• Contributing to the ongoing management and maintenance of the house (repairs, DIY, cleaning).
• An abilty to contribue and have capcity to meet the workload of co-op.
• Running our home well together with initiative and care.
• Quiet, considerate and thoughtful energy.

We value independence while maintaining a warm shared home.

• Shared communal food stock, such as flour, grains and seeds. Each member contributes £30/month.
• Each person has their own fridge shelf, some freezer space and a cupboard shelf for personal food.
• Cleaning and chore rota to keep things tidy.
• Communal meals are vegetarian, and we tend to have these on an ad-hoc basis.
• Some members drink alcohol, and some people in the home are sober.
• We recycle, compost and try to be ecologically minded.

A housing co-op is housing run by its members. Instead of a private landlord making all the decisions: members collectively manage the home, share responsibilities and make decisions about how the co-op is run.

• Members usually have a say in rent, repairs, policies and house management.
• Co-ops are often set up to keep housing affordable for its memebers and community-led.
• Living in a co-op usually involves practical participation, its important to know this isn't just renting a room.

Community-led housing covers projects where local people shape, own or manage housing for community benefit. In Brighton secure and affordable housing is increasingly harder to access, especially for people facing barriers in the private rental market.
